This software (pathXcite) provides an embedded interface to third-party websites, including PubTator, PubMed Central (PMC), PubMed, and Enrichr, for informational and research purposes only. The content displayed within these embedded views originates directly from these external platforms and is neither created, controlled, nor endorsed by us.
Data Retrieval & Processing
As users navigate through web pages, the software automatically detects PubMed and PMC identifiers (PMIDs) present on the current page. These identifiers are used to retrieve metadata, abstracts, and, when available, full-text articles via official APIs, including:
- NCBI E-utilities API for PubMed/PMC metadata and abstracts.
- PubTator API for full-text document retrieval, where applicable.
Additionally, the tool leverages the Enrichr gene set library service provided by the Ma'ayan Laboratory to access and download over 240 curated gene set libraries for enrichment analysis. These libraries and associated results originate from Enrichr servers and are retrieved through their public APIs.
All retrieved data is stored locally in a structured SQLite3 database, allowing users to access and analyze it within or outside the tool.

- We do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any external data or service.

- All retrieved data remains under your control, and you are solely responsible for how it is used, interpreted, or redistributed.
